Pg thread usage is trying to be phased out in continental Europe.
A new metric thread standard
(EN 50262) will be phased in as mandatory beginning on March
1, 2001 replacing the Pg thread. There was a different standard
for electrical conduit threads based on the 55° Whitworth
thread form. That standard has been made obsolete. An unofficial
survey of UK gage makers done May 2010 found that most did not
know EN 50262 existed as a standard. One gage maker did know about
the standard, but had made no gages to that standard.
