EN 10241 Steel Threaded Pipe Fittings

EN 10241:2000 Scope
European Standard EN 10241 specifies requirements for screw threaded fittings of nominal sizes from DN 6 to DN 150 inclusive, made out of welded steel or seamless steel tubes, forging and rolled bars. It is applicable to those screw threaded steel pipe fittings that are used in the transportation and distribution of liquid or gas.

EN 10241 Screw Thread Requirements
We are only interested in the screw thread requirements found in European Standard EN 10241. We encourage you to seek out your own copy of European Standard EN 10241 for the complete contents if you intend to use European Standard EN 10241 as your manufacturing requirements.

EN 10241:2000 Page 7 Paragraph 6.4 Screw Threads
Internal screw threads shall be parallel and external screw threads shall be taper confirming to ISO 7-1, except for certain tubular sizes in Tables 21, 23 and 24 or when the purchaser specifies other types of screw thread (see 5.2. option 1 or 2 or 3); in this case the type of screw thread shall be identified.

EN 10241:2000 Page 5 Paragraph 5.2 Options
A number of options are specified in European Standard EN 10241 and the ones related to screw threads are listed below. In the event that the purchaser does not indicate a wish to implement any of these options at the time of enquiry and/or order, the fittings shall be supplied in accordance with the basic specification.
1) Taper internal screw thread type Rc confirming to ISO 7-1
2) Parallel external screw thread type GA or GB conforming to ISO 228-1
3) Parallel internal screw thread type G conforming to ISO 228-1

Conclusion
Requesting a screw thread per European Standard EN 10241 is an insufficient call-out. Requesting a screw thread as BSPP per European Standard EN 10241 is an incorrect call-out. If you are not sure about which screw thread is required; review European Standard EN 10241 with your customer and gain their direction as to what is needed in their application.
