The history of this company's involvement in Variable Screw Thread Measurement Systems begins with its owner and founder: Glenn Allen. He is known throughout the thread measurement industry for his engineering expertise in the art of screw thread measurement gage industry. His whole life has been involved in Variable Screw Thread Gaging. After college Glenn went to work at Johnson Gage in Bloomfield, CT. (30 years, 1959-1989). When he left Johnson Gage he was their senior engineer in charge of design. He started Allen Gage in Westfield, MA (1989-1991). Glenn then started Allen Engineering in West Hartford, CT. (1991-1993) where the complete Variable Screw Thread Gaging line was developed. Starrett Tools in Athol, MA purchased his product line and it was manufactured under the Starrett trade name for 16 years (1994-2010). The product line covered 30+ pages in the Starrett Catalog all connected to Variable Screw Thread Gaging. Starrett has chosen not to continue the Thread Gage Line, so Glenn started Allen Engineering and Design Co. LLC (2006 to present) to service existing Starrett Variable Screw Thread System customers and to sell new Variable Screw Thread Systems.
