Southern Gage purchased the external variable screw thread gage product from Pratt & Whitney in 1981, which included Tri-Roll variable screw thread gages and Roll Snap screw thread gages. Southern Gage was purchased by Illinois Tool Works (ITW) in 1984 and continued manufacture of the Tri-Rolls and Roll Snaps under the name ITW Southern Gage. In 1987 the products were moved to ITW Zero Systems which was a division of ITW Southern Gage concentrating on all variable measurement systems. Shortly thereafter ITW Zero Systems purchased the Hansson & Whitney internal thread comparator product line, and began manufacture after re-engineering the product. Alpha Q Holding, who owns Glastonbury Gage, purchased ITW Southern Gage in 1995. The two gage companies were combined into Glastonbury Southern Gage and now manufactures both internal and external threaded variable gages under that name.
